What makes Kkeut Oriental Clinic's Er:YAG Fraxel special?

Using Er:YAG instead of CO2:

While CO2 lasers offer deep penetration, they can cause significant thermal damage to surrounding tissues, potentially leading to a risk of hyperpigmentation.

Er:YAG is a Fraxel device designed to minimize thermal damage and precisely reach from the epidermal layer to the dermal-epidermal junction.

Personalized Parameter Adjustment:

Rather than relying on mechanical settings, we meticulously analyze each individual's skin condition to adjust the laser's depth and intensity.

We perform treatments with delicate adjustments, such as using multiple passes of low energy for thinner skin areas and applying a single, high-energy pass for thicker areas.

Utilizing Overlap Technique:

We use a technique of overlapping laser passes to precisely tailor treatment intensity for areas needing improvement, such as fine lines, scars, and pores.

Applicable even to areas with aging fine lines like the back of the hands and neck: Body areas such as the back of the hands or neck, which can generally be challenging to treat, are also treated with separate customized settings, considering skin regeneration speed and sebaceous gland density.

Expect Synergistic Fraxel Effects with Skin Booster Delivery Technique:

It is crucial to effectively utilize the microscopic channels created in the skin immediately after Fraxel treatment.

At Kkeut Oriental Clinic, we have established a protocol where skin boosters are applied immediately after Fraxel treatment to ensure effective ingredients reach the dermal layer.

Considering areas with deep scars or varying skin thickness, we custom-adjust the degree of overlap and intensity to open pathways for ingredient absorption down to the dermal-epidermal junction.

When combining small-particle skin boosters like PDRN and Juvelook, the absorption rate of ingredients vital for regeneration can be enhanced, reaching the dermal layer. This leads to positive expectations for improving pores, fine lines, and acne scars.

What is Fraxel?

Fraxel is an abbreviation of 'fractional,' referring to a method of delivering laser energy in a fractionated pattern, rather than stimulating the entire skin surface, creating microscopic treatment zones with untouched skin in between.

It creates microscopic holes (channels) in the skin to induce stimulation, which in turn promotes the skin's self-regeneration process.

This treatment method, which induces fractional damage, has the advantage of reducing recovery burden while still allowing for overall skin improvement.

Ablative vs. Non-Ablative Fraxel

Ablative Fraxel: This method precisely removes the epidermal layer and delivers energy down to the dermal junction. It aims for direct improvement of skin texture, wrinkles, and pigmentation, but may require a recovery period after treatment.

Non-Ablative Fraxel: This method keeps the epidermis intact while delivering thermal stimulation to the dermal layer. While recovery may be faster, the expected effects might be relatively limited.

The Er:YAG Fraxel used at Kkeut Oriental Clinic is an ablative laser.

Working Principle of Er:YAG Fraxel

Er:YAG Fraxel is a type of ablative laser that specifically utilizes a 2940nm wavelength, which has a high absorption rate in water.

This wavelength precisely vaporizes and removes tissue from the epidermis down to the dermal junction, characterized by accurate depth control, minimal thermal damage, and relatively fast recovery.

Because it removes tissue through instantaneous vaporization of water without burning surrounding tissues, it minimizes the risk of hyperpigmentation and facilitates a stable treatment.

DOE vs. MLA Method Comparison

Fraxel's energy delivery methods are broadly categorized into DOE and MLA. The DOE (Diffractive Optical Element) method delivers energy uniformly to all treatment points, facilitating relatively stable energy distribution. However, due to power limitations, a practitioner's skilled technique is crucial for treating deep scars.

In contrast, the MLA (Microlens Array) method is characterized by strong energy concentration at the center, which diminishes towards the periphery. While this can be useful for improving deep scars, excessive energy concentration in specific areas may lead to a longer recovery period.

Expected Effects of Er:YAG Fraxel

The Er:YAG Fraxel used at our clinic delivers laser energy using the DOE method.

This method ensures uniform energy delivery across the entire skin, allowing for stable treatment.

Therefore, it is more suitable for improving pores, fine lines, and skin texture, and even for conditions like acne scars, improvement can be expected by utilizing the overlap technique.

Collagen and Elastin Regeneration: It removes microscopically damaged skin tissue and stimulates fibroblasts in the dermal layer to induce the production of collagen and elastin. This can lead to firmer and smoother skin.

Pore Contraction Effect: As the fibrous tissue around the pores undergoes rearrangement after treatment, a reduction in pore size and a more refined skin surface can be expected.

Acne Scar Remodeling: As old scar tissue gradually breaks down and is replaced by new collagen tissue, it can contribute to overall improvement in skin texture.

Post-Treatment Precautions

  • ㆍAvoid washing your face and applying makeup on the day of the treatment; it is recommended to start light cleansing from the next day.

  • ㆍTip marks, redness, and pain may persist for about 7 days in the treated area, during which cooling care with an ice pack is recommended.

  • ㆍFraxel is a laser resurfacing treatment, so do not forcibly remove the dead skin that appears around 3-4 days after treatment; it is best to let it shed naturally.

  • ㆍRefrain from alcohol, smoking, saunas, public baths, and swimming pools until all dead skin has naturally exfoliated.

  • ㆍThe period from immediately after treatment until 1-2 weeks after exfoliation is a skin regeneration phase, so consistently applying a regenerative ointment can be beneficial.

  • ㆍPay special attention to moisturizing care for skin soothing, and we recommend diligently applying sunscreen when going out.

Q&A

Q&A

고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.

Is Fraxel treatment very painful?

QnA

Before the procedure, anesthetic cream is sufficiently applied to reduce the burden of pain. During the procedure, you may feel a stinging sensation, and after the procedure, some individuals may experience a burning sensation for 1-2 days.

When do scabs form/How long is the shedding period?

QnA

Most commonly, fine scabs form 3-4 days after the procedure. These scabs generally start to fall off gradually around one week after the procedure and may naturally shed over a period of 1-2 weeks. This can vary depending on individual skin condition. Due to the nature of laser treatments that utilize the principle of peeling, redness may appear immediately after the procedure and usually subsides slowly within 1-2 weeks.

How long does the redness last?

QnA

Generally, post-procedure redness tends to subside within 1-2 weeks. However, if the skin is sensitive or dry, or depending on the overall skin condition, the regeneration speed may vary, and redness might persist for a slightly longer period.

Can I wash my face and apply makeup after the procedure?

QnA

It is recommended to avoid washing your face and applying makeup on the day you receive Fraxel treatment. Generally, light facial washing and makeup are possible from the day after the procedure.

What is the treatment interval?

QnA

For skin improvement, it is generally recommended to receive 3-5 sessions at 4-week intervals. After that, consistent treatments every 3-6 months can help maintain the management effect.

When do the effects appear?

QnA

Collagen production typically begins around 2-3 weeks after the procedure, and you may start to feel your skin becoming firmer after approximately one month. However, if your individual skin condition or concerns are severe, you will generally experience more satisfying changes after consistently receiving at least 3 sessions.
